Bernd Gradwohl is one of the few musicians who has performed all the Bach Solo Sonatas and Partitas for Violin on one evening and is probably the only one among them to have a CD made of those works, live and from memory, in a 3 hour single concert performance. His concert tours throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America played to enthusiastic audience applause, intense interest of resident TV stations and other media: He performed in landmark venues such as the Heinsa Cloisters (a historically significant Buddhist center), the St. Michael's Church in Vienna, or at Anton Bruckner in St. Florian, where Bernd Gradwohl, as first interpreter by invitation of the International Brucknertage, performed in the Crypt as part of his Bach tour. Because of the spiritual and emotional dimension of the pieces plays, Bernd Gradwohl is very grateful to those churches which have acted as venues thereby providing an optimal atmosphere and excellent acoustic conditions.
Occasionally, one can also experience Bernd Gradwohl's unusual and spontaneous Solo Jazz program during music festivals.
An endless search for means of expression allowed Bernd Gradwohl to be inspired by different styles of music, from Bach to Jazz, and consequentely, to compose and perform music for solo violin. In 2018 he composed and premiered in Vienna The "Original Wiener Heurigensonatas" a 2 hours violin solo program operetta, where polkas, fugas, canons, and marchs meet in a mixture of virtuosity and humoristic poetry. The performamces were received with enthusiasm with the challenging effect of meeting both, the acclaim of the public and the experts.
